Big Al’s BBQ

Big Al’s BBQ and Deli is a hidden gem of a restaurant on the far East side of Elk Grove.  Usually you’d have to travel to Texas to get real, down home BBQ like this.  Fortunately, Big Al’s brings that true Texas BBQ taste right to Elk Grove.
The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor sit down seating, convenient take out, as well as party catering. The menu includes BBQ favorites including chicken, brisket, tri-tip, and their famous ribs.

Dine Downtown Week in Sacramento – My Preview of River City Brewing Company

Although now going into its 6th year, the first time I heard about Dine Downtown Week was just last year. Unfortunately for me though, I heard about it after the event. So this year, when I saw the posts from@downtownsac on Twitter, I vowed to make sure I didn’t miss this year’s local dining event.

There are several restaurants in downtown Sacramento that I’ve been meaning to try, so the idea of a $30 prix fixe menu being available for so many of the restaurants I’ve heard great things about was right up my alley.  Initially, though, I have to admit to having to do a little research to find out exactly what at prix fixe menu entailed.  To save you a few Google clicks, a prix fixe menu is when a restaurant selects a few different items from their menu to offer a multi course meal at a fixed price. The Dine Downtown restaurants are offering 3 course meals at some of the top rated restaurants in the city for just $30 per person.

As if things couldn’t get any better, I was asked by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership to do a “dinner preview” for one of the participating restaurants.
